Lee, who is also a state executive council member, said the plan was based on the public engagement sessions and public voting conducted recently by the Ipoh City Council.

“There is still much to do. We need to sort out a temporary place for the market traders first before we can proceed with the plan,” he told reporters at the state Youth and Sports Ministry Hari Raya open house here Monday (July 1).

“As the state government, we need to know what the majority and minority want.

“We have conducted not one, but five public engagement sessions at different times to make sure we have listened to everyone,” he said, adding that the public voting session was also the state’s initiative to get feedback from the people.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu had reportedly said that the state would still need to discuss rebuilding the market, despite having held the two-day public voting sessions.

On a separate matter, Lee said Perak Pakatan Harapan Youth supported the decision to lower the voting age from 21 to 18.

“If an 18-year-old is allowed to hold a gun and defend the country (in the army), they should also be allowed to decide who should govern it,” he added.
